It’s the Superbowl–don’t bother with poxy little wings…try drumsticks! They’re a great wing-alternative that are meatier, tastier, less messy, and cheaper. 

These two wing-style drumstick flavours are with simple and tasty ingredients. They’re easy to make and are hearty enough to fill up even the hungriest of game watchers.

Ingredients
  1. 12 chicken drumsticks, skin removed
For the Honey Mustard
  1. 3/4 cup honey, room temperature
  2. 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  3. 3-4 Tbsp of your favourite mustard
  4. 2 Tbsp mustard seed
  5. 3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
For the Lime Pepper
  1. 6 Tbsp chili powder
  2. 6 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  3. 1 Tbsp lime zest
  4. 2 tsp fresh ground black pepper
  5. 1 tsp onion powder
  6. 1 Tbsp diced cilantro
  7. 3 Tbsp oil (canola handles heat best)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400F/205C.
  2. With a pairing knife, lightly score the meatiest part of the drumsticks-- this allows for more ingredient absorptions, which results in more flavour!
For the Honey Mustard
  1. Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Toss 6 drumsticks in the mixture to evenly coat.
  3. Place drumsticks on aluminum foil lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and brush remaining honey mustard mixture on each side of chicken.
  6. Return chicken to oven, and set oven to broil.
  7. Broil for 5-7 minutes, or until a golden brown crust is formed on drumsticks.
For the Lime Pepper
  1. Mix together all ingredients to form a loose paste.
  2. Toss 6 drumsticks in the mixture to evenly coat.
  3. Place drumsticks on aluminum foil lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and brush remaining lime pepper mixture on each side of chicken.
  6. Return chicken to oven, and set oven to broil.
  7. Broil for 5-7 minutes, or until a golden brown crust is formed on drumsticks.
Notes
  1. This recipe makes 6 large drumsticks of each style.
