Protein Waffles

If you’re a follower of my blog, you know my Protein Pancakes are one of my favourite breakfasts. I make them all the time!

But this morning, I felt like something a new– little different, a little exotic …. so I cheated on my pancakes.

With Protein Waffles!

Weighing in under 200 calories and with a whopping 36 grams of protein, these babies are an uber-filling, super tasty way to start your day and kick your mid-morning munchies to the curb! Now that I’ve discovered these, I might be stepping out on my pancakes more frequently…

You’re gonna need:

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1/2 banana, mashed

Splash of almond milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 c egg whites

Dash of cinnamon

1 tsp psyllium husk (ground flax seeds as well)

1 tbsp coconut flour (you can substitute any type of flour your little heart desires)

Assorted fruit to top (optional)

First off, you’ll want to heat up your waffle iron. Don’t forget to spray it with pam, or you’ll never get your waffle off that hot iron!

Grab a bowl, and mix together all of your ingredients.

Not exactly the most appealing yet, is it? Trust me, it gets better!

Pour the batter onto your waffle iron and close. I set my iron to ‘medium’, but remember, each is different. Keep an eye on it, it won’t take terribly long to cook.

Remove from iron, and top with some fresh fruit.

Filled with fibre and loads of protein, you won’t even think about getting hungry again until lunch. Good morning, indeed!
